Tree Art and Sunset at Seward Park

We took a walk last night at Seward Park through woods of Douglas-Fir, lit up by Maple. Near the lakeshore this golden Madrona was beautiful alone, shortly before sunset over the lake. ~ Susanne

Lines, Lines Everywhere!

I headed to the park today on the hottest day of the year with lines on my mind.  Turns out they were everywhere. Thick as trees in the forest, mostly upright, side by side,  and crossing over. Lifeless as logs scattered about the beach….

Weekly Photo Challenge: Awakening

I love to walk in the park nearby for exercise and fresh air and I love to take pictures of the trees. Last month they appeared black and craggy, exposed like skeletons against the clouds and sky. This week you can see fresh green…

From Winter to Spring

Yesterday’s trees looked ragged and black against the cloud filled sky. Today’s sky was bluer and clouds were fewer to let us know spring has arrived. ~  Susanne

The Last Tree

After the razing of the 22 acres formerly known as the Tiffany Park Woods, it was time to take out the last tree near our home.  No hard feelings.  In fact,  I’m over it.  For the last several months I’ve actually enjoyed following the…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Growth

Here we are in the dead of Seattle winter, and still I find new growth in the old growth forest of Schmitz Park. This 200 ft. Douglas Fir supports a fallen Cedar resting on it. And new growth abounds on shrubs nearer the ground….

Patches of Blue

Some days the weather outside matches the weather inside.  Today was cold and dark, with steady rain and gusty winds.  I didn’t feel like it but went out regardless to run some errands.  As I left the last store I noticed the rain had…

Stages of a Sunset

The rain finally came to an end so I thought I’d try to catch tonight’s sunset in the park at the end of the street.  When I arrived I found blue patches of sky hidden under billowy clouds. It wasn’t long before pale peach…

Experimental Tree in Color

I have a favorite tree that I love to photograph during the winter when it is barren and craggy.  For this week’s photo challenge I decided to experiment with color and so present this tree to you in two shades. Aqua Arctic Experimental

The Tree

Tonight before sunset I visited one of my favorite trees in the park nearby and found it standing proudly against the clouds assembled behind. Looking forward to a change in the weather after a week of too hot and dry. ~  Susanne

Tiffany Park Woods Revisited

Behind my house in Renton there are 22 acres of woods.   You can see them through the fence in my backyard where they provide a wonderful backdrop of green making my own gardening efforts easier. I have enjoyed their quiet beauty and the birds and wildlife…

A Winter Drive

It was a nice day for a drive in the country to get some fresh air and to enjoy the winter landscape before the rain was scheduled to appear.  We found the Snoqualmie River moody and reflective of the cloudy skies… But the trees did all the talking……
