Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
Today is gray and cloudy but there were blue skies on Thursday and Friday, when I took a walk on the Cedar River Trail where it flows north into Lake Washington.

In addition to glimpses of city skylines on either side of Mercer Island –

Seattle on the left –

Bellevue to the right,

there were lots of birds and other flying creatures,

and Blue Angels practicing for this weekend’s Seafair show.

Nothing says summer in Seattle, like Seafair!
Sharing with Sunday Stills, seen at the Fair.

😎 cool. I saw ‘Seafair’ three different years in the 60’s 😉 What memories. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I have fond memories of Seafair, too, growing up in Seattle. Glad you enjoyed it!
Ah, memories of the Blue Angels buzzing downtown Seattle when they practiced. They were almost at eye level from our office windows in the Federal Building. Miss Seattle.
Good memories! I worked downtown for many years too, and loved watching them fly by!
I love the Blue Angels, Susanne! My cousin in Bellevue loves that festival. Excellent shots of them doing their thing.
By now you’ve heard tbe bad news on our side of the state. Spokane and surrounding areas has become #1 priority in the US for wildfire mgmt. We’re hosting our friends again overnight. They’re home was spared but power is out indefinitely.
Yes, I keep seeing the headlines. Scary! What good neighbors you are to your friends. Stay safe!
These are awesome! I haven’t seen the Blue Angels in a long time.
Thanks, Kirstin! I love when they arrive every summer for Seafair.
Ah, the beautiful blue skies that makes everyone want to move there and then winter rolls around! Enjoy Seafair. I never made it to the event, but I’m glad they’re still doing it. Oh, and when I first moved to Washington State I don’t think there was a building in Bellvue that was more than three stories high. How times change!
We had gorgeous blue skies Thursday and Friday. Then high winds cancelled the Blue Angels on Saturday! And lots of clouds on Sunday, though I think they still performed. ~ And I’m still surprised to see Bellevue with a skyline. The new red skyscraper is quite distinctive looking.
Looks like you are having a really good summer. Our air force display team is called ‘The Red Arrows’, and they also do summer displays for the public as well as official and royal occasions. They are based in Lincolnshire, 80 miles north of where I live, so often fly over our house when training. https://www.raf.mod.uk/display-teams/red-arrows/
Best wishes, Pete.
Yes, we’ve had a great summer so far, and Seafair is one of oldest summer festivals in Seattle! The Blue Angels have come every year that I can remember, and it’s always great to see them. I’ve never gone to an actual show, but you hear and see them all over the city when they practice. Your Red Arrows look great, too!
I see Pete has already drawn comparisons between your Blue Angels and our Red Arrows. I’m not generally drawn to flying displays but they are incredible to watch! I assume your Angels are too 🙂
Yes! I’ve never gone to an airshow but I love when the Angels come to town!
