Surprised by Snow

I’ve wanted to drop by the SquareOdds challenge before it’s over but I’ve been hard pressed to find anything odd!

But after our mostly balmy weather the last few weeks during which time I accomplished a bit of spring gardening, it seemed odd to me that winter should return so quickly!

The temperatures plummeted to record lows and I went outside this morning to patches of snow, including this odd piece of modern art on my windshield.

But what I enjoyed the most was seeing tiny balls of snow on fallen leaves.

And that will do for today’s odd squares.

  1. We had a bit more snow than that here on Whidbey. The ground is covered. I noticed it coming down late last. I thought for sure it’d be gone by morning. Nope.

How nice that you can find beauty in it. (I’m just laying in bed trying to stay warm…)

    • I have a friend on Whidbey Island and saw her pictures a few days ago! Definitely more than we got here, which was just a smattering. And I hope it’s done for the winter! πŸ™‚

  2. Variety is the spice of life, right? How boring it would be if we had sunny weather every day!

  3. Love the photos! I had little snow balls pelting down this evening as I was driving home at 9:00 PM. The roads were very slick and the little snow balls turned to freezing rain by the time I pulled into the driveway. I really want Spring to come!

    • Thanks so much for your comment. 😊 love the snow but not if I have to drive it. Glad you made it home safely. And not when I’m ready for spring! 🌱πŸ₯€

    • Thanks, Pete! 😊 It certainly was a surprise! Other areas got some accumulations but we just got a smattering. Pretty, but I’m ready for spring!

    • We got very little snow but were surprised by the unusually cold temperatures. Yesterday we were hit by another atmospheric river, drenched by incessant pounding rain! Not sure which is worse. 😦

      • I had never heard of atmospheric rivers until this year. Are they new or just renamed?

      • I only heard this expression in the last year or so. Not sure why the name change? I think they used to call them the ‘pineapple express’ which was a bit more pleasant! πŸ™‚
