Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
I’d gone a few times earlier this month looking for ducklings and gosling but didn’t see any.
I finally found them yesterday at Coulon Park, on a perfect day for a walk, under blue skies and temperatures in the mid-seventies.

There were boaters and swimmers out and about and lots of birds, including this handsome giant, a Great Blue Heron, close to 4 ft. tall.

I saw the first family of ducklings nearby, tiny and adorable.

I followed the trail around the lake for views of Mt. Rainier

and saw two families of goslings out with mom and dad. (And yes, that is the Boeing Plant with its own giant birds in the background.)

On my way back I saw the same goslings having a bite to eat.

I also saw turtles basking in the sunshine,

and the Coulon Walkers (Philip Levine’s Interface sculpture) all dressed up for Memorial Day.

Gene Coulon Memorial Park sits on the southern end of Lake Washington, a large freshwater lake adjacent to the cities of Seattle and Bellevue, and surrounded by smaller cities, including Renton to the south. Lake Washington is the second largest natural lake in Washington State, after Lake Chelan, approximately 22 miles long, 1 – 3 miles wide, with 33 miles in surface area.
One of my favorite places to go for a walk.
