As Summer Winds Down

It was Summer’s last hurrah as I visited Soos Creek Botanical Garden earlier this week with temperatures in the mid eighties, the sun bright and burning my nose.

Then yesterday the cool marine air brought in giant clouds that filled the sky overpowering Lake Washington at Coulon Park.

As I returned to the car I found two leaves on the ground dressed in fall colors.

  1. You reminded me of “burns the nose and bites the toes” in Over the River and Through the Woods. I guess the leaves made me think of Thanksgiving!

  2. We often say here in Fresno that we have two seasons, summer and winter, with not much in between πŸ€”It’s not really that drastic. But fall has always been my favorite seasonπŸ˜€

  3. Autumn hasn’t quite reached here yet, but I’m looking forward to some cooler weather, so I can curl up under a blanket with a good book!

  4. I’ve been surprised by some early signs of fall here, too. Drought made many leaves dry up and come down early, and I see some multi-color leaves on the ground. It’s usually late October or November before we see full autumn color.
