Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
It was a busy week in the garden for the birds, though not for me and Benji – we preferred to watch.

But back in the corner a family of Wrens have taken up residence in one of the nesting boxes on the shed.

And they were out hunting and gathering all last week.

Delivering their juicy finds to their little ones.

There were other birds out and about too, like this handsome Spotted Towhee; they may have nests nearby too, though I don’t know where.

The bees haven’t been very active yet this year, which is worrisome, though I did find this one on the lavender.

There are plenty of other blossoms to choose from including:

Sharing my flowers in pink and pastels with this week’s Sunday Stills Challenge.

So pretty!
Thanks so much! 🙂
Great photos of the wren and the bee and the flowers look lovely.
Thanks, Graham. I hadn’t realized the wrens were nesting till I saw them out hunting!
Your backyard is so beautiful and restful, Susanne! Well except for all the bird and bee action! I love that perspective from your deck. Those lilacs! Sigh…I can smell them from here.
Aw, thank you so much, Terri! I love it when it comes alive in the spring! 🙂
I’m patiently waiting for the dogwood to bloom. There are a couple in our neighborhood. Mine is young and had some stress, but getting there. When it blooms I’ll know spring is officially here!
Lots of dogwood blooming in my neighborhood, but none in my yard.
Good to see the birds using your nest boxes. Worrying about the bees though, I haven’t seen a single one so far this year. More needs to be done to safeguard our precious bees.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete. I’ve been watching for the bees but they are noticeably absent. Hopefully, when it’s consistently warmer, they’ll return in good numbers!
These flowers are so pretty!
Thank you so much!
Your flowers are lovely, especially the Montana, and the wrens are so cute!
Thanks, Sarah. My garden finally comes alive in May as do the nesting birds!
Fabulous birds and blooms, Suzanne. Your back yard looks so relaxing. The cat is enjoying the view, on the lookout for a bird. 🙂
Thanks so much! The birds and blooms both take off in May. And Benji loves watching the action. 😻
I bet he does. Moji used to get really excited about birds in Prescott when she couldn’t go outside. Now, she is much more enticed by butterflies and lizards. They’re more on her level.
Benji chases butterflies too, but I’ve never seen a lizard in our yard!
We have a stone wall, and the lizards love it!
So pretty. I love dogwood trees. A friend of mine had a small dwarf one by her front walk and it was a favorite of mine.
I like dogwood trees too, though I don’t have one in my garden.
