Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
Did you get the title? If not, you’re too young and that’s okay too! You can tell me in the comments. π
Yesterday on the first day of fall in between days of rain which is our new normal, we had a wonderful sunshiny day and I spent it with a friend at Coulon Park.
It was the first time since March that I’d done anything with someone other than my husband – and we walked and talked and ate, and walked and talked some more.
And we stopped to visit with the Turtles in their usual hangout.
The whole gang was there – grandma and grandpa, mom and dad, a couple of teenagers, and a little youngster who enjoyed the view atop one of the others.
They jockeyed a bit for position, stretched out their necks and limbs to soak in the rays, and took turns on the log – Happy Together.
~ Susanne
The turtles not only had “Happy Together” but many other hits as well, and they were a clever, sophisticated band at times…like the chorus of “Eleanor”, which goes:
“Eleanor, gee I think you’re swell
And you really do me well
You’re my pride and joy
etcetera…”
“Gee I think you’re swell.” π π Happy Together reminds me of Maria because as a toddler she would say, “I want I do,” which meant she wanted to hear the song, Happy Together, which starts out, ‘”Imagine me and you – I do.”
Oh Yes! How funny!
Cool! You have a good memory! π π
Good songs.
I had that record on a vinyl .45 the year it was released. π
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks Pete. We had it too, must have been a 45. I liked the sound, still do. My little sister who was just a toddler, wanted me to play it for her over and over. She called it, ‘I do.’ ‘I want I do.’ Good memories! βΊ
I remember that song!
An oldie but a goodie! π
Ok in my mind I can hear the phrase βhappy togetherβ to the tune, but I donβt remember anything else from the song. So after your hint at the beginning I figured it had to have been the Turtles who sang it. I must have been…(ahem)…to young at the time…ππ
Yep! You’re just a youngster! π I had older brothers and sisters – they bought the music and I listened. π
I really enjoy the ways the turtles jockey for position. I wonder who gets the prime spot at the top?
This time the best spot was taken up by the little baby turtle who was on the back of the one at the top of the log. I’d never seen that before!
Sneaky little turtle!
