Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
One of my worst memories from grade school was when we had to paint something in Art class. Afterwards the teacher showed our work to the class one by one while asking who the artist was. After seeing what others had done I was so embarrassed when mine came along I didn’t raise my hand.
Speak or sing in front of the class? Yes, gladly. Admit to an inferior painting? Um, no!
So I was delighted to find a setting on my camera called Watercolor which turns already lovely landscapes into beautiful works of art.
Here are a few photos I took recently using this setting.
The trick is remembering to turn the setting off when you’re done or you will continue to get unexpected results as I did at sunset later that same day.
What do you think? 🙂

That is lovely. I didn’t know about that setting. I am more familiar with my grandkids monkeying around with warping effects!
I don’t know if it’s on all cameras. This is on my Sony RX-10. I’m still learning about all of its special functions and it’s rather fun! 🙂
Wow, it’s a really interesting effect! I’m astonished at what’s being done with photos these days, both within cameras and in later photo editing.
Thanks so much. I’ve started experimenting with a few of these camera settings and have been pleased with the results. 🙂
I have the RX 10 too, and I didn’t even know about that setting!
Is it in the main menu?
Shows how much I investigate the features. I just leave it on Aperture Priority, though I did try out the ‘Partial Colour’ feature once. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks Pete. I’m discovering a lot of great features with the RX-10. I can’t find things quickly with the Menu but I do use the Function (Fn) button for shortcuts to various settings. If you scroll through those options you’ll find ‘Picture Effect’ and one of them is WtrC for Watercolor. It’s been fun to experiment! 🙂
Thanks, Susanne. When it stops raining, I will try that out. Might work well with a ‘Still Life’. 🙂
I really like these! Great effect.
Thanks so much! 🙂
