Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
For this week’s Sunday Stills Challenge, I went outside looking for pastels in the rain.
My expectations weren’t high, but I managed to find some hiding midst the green – in the form of very wet periwinkle in lavender, and forget-me-nots in blue.
Soon after I remembered the rhododendron next to the driveway, all delicate and pink and ruffly.
Not through yet, I walked around the side of the house and hid under the eaves to take pictures of a neglected tree, bursting with buds and blossoms.
Till I finally succumbed to the rain.
But I’ll have plenty of pastel for you next month when the clematis takes over, the highlight of my May Garden.
I can’t wait.

You captured a lot of beauty in the rain, Susanne! ❤️ It’s sunny and 82 down here.
Thanks, John. I didn’t have much choice as we’ve had rain, rain and more rain here in the NW! I envy your sunny and 82!
We could use your rain, rain, and more rain!
I’d love to send some but haven’t quite figured out how to do it! 😉 🙂
Thanks for trying. 😂
Reblogged this on https:/BOOKS.ESLARN-NET.DE.
Thanks for the reblog. 🙂
Thanks for this wonderful enjoyment! Here we are still on the stage of winter. ;-/ Best wishes, Michael
You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed our rainy spring! 🙂
Such beautiful pictures! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed them! 🙂
💚
You live in such a pretty place 🌼
Thank you. 🙂
Rain is good for our state, no matter what side we live on, Susanne! Wow, love these flowers and you have them right there for the picking, or the very least, the lens captures! The blossoms (cherry?) in the rain are such gorgeous images! Save those gorgeous pink clematis for June’s color challenge (pink). Nary a bloom where we are, By now the arrowleaf sunflowers have bloomed but they are just barely popping up!
By April I’m always tired of the rain, and dream of sunshine, beaches, and swaying palm trees! If only that was in my future! 😉 I’m not sure what kind of tree that is with the beautiful blossoms. I don’t think it’s cherry, maybe some kind of plum? It truly is out of the way, so I don’t pay much attention to it. Poor neglected tree! Unlike the clematis which gets all my attention in May. 🙂
Gorgeous photos of outstanding blooms!!
Thank you so much!
Lovely flower photos Susanne. It’ll stop raining soon – probably!
Thanks, Graham. Anything is possible, I suppose!
You did a great job producing some wonderful images, Susanne. Congratulations!
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks so much, Pete. I didn’t expect to find much pastel, and was surprised myself!
That rhododendron is particularly beautiful!
Thanks so much, Sarah. Rhodies are the workhorse of the garden! Always in the background faithfully blooming at the appointed time. 🙂
You have some fantastic photos for this week’s pastel colors. It will be amazing to see all this color in a few weeks. 😀 😀
Thanks so much! 🙂 The rhodie is center stage now, but the clematis will be the star in May. 🙂
