Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
It was our first flight of the Covid era and thankfully everything went smoothly.
We enjoyed our time in Southern California and returned safely home again. What more could you ask for?
Less spam, perhaps?
When I logged back onto my blog there were 699 spam comments to be deleted and a dozen or so new fake followers which were promptly removed. Yes indeed – generic names, similar prefixes with sequentially numbered addresses, no site info, and no blog. Goodbye, I said, see ya later; actually, hope not.
The cats survived our absence but haven’t quite forgiven us yet. They follow me everywhere meowing and vying for attention.
Tiger is satisfied being near me in my office and loves a good brushing.
Benji is happiest outside, and on my lap.
It was a nice break but it’s good to be back.
There’s no place like home.

There’s no place like home, indeed! Your cats are so sweet. The in-flight photo is beautiful, I love flying. I recently went through the few followers I have and deleted over 100 bad accounts. Bummer.
Thanks so much. I’m glad I’m not the only one getting bogus followers. I don’t know what they want to get out of it but it can’t be good.
Yay! It’s always so nice when you get home, even when you go on an enjoyable trip! Glad the kitties survived your absence! I don’t seem to get a lot of spam comments on my blog but I do get those bogus followers. A lot of times they seem like they want to sell you something, but, like you said, a lot of times there is no blog, or the blog is just about random stuff. 🤔
Yes indeed, there’s no place like home! On the blog front, I seem to be getting a lot more spam than I used to. These new bogus followers were pretty obvious but I should probably go back farther and delete more. Maybe they’re the source of the spam.
Glad your trip went so well and the cats forgave you for your absence!
Thanks! They seem to be back to their normal cat selves! 😺😾
I have enjoyed your trip posts and this one is no exception. But like the cats I’m glad you’re back and safe at home!
Thanks so much! I wasn’t sure about flying but it all went well. And fortunately the cats have forgiven us. 😊
That is why we always take Ollie on holiday with us. He is part of our family, so we would never consider leaving him behind. Not so easy with cats though! Glad you had a good time.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete. 🙂 That’s the benefit of having a dog! I wish our cats were the traveling kind but at least they’re comfortable and well taken care of when we’re gone. Other than missing our love and attention! 🙂
They look very happy.
Yes, indeed! They are most happy when we are nearby. 🙂
Glad yur trip went well and all is well at home
Thank you so much! 🙂
When we get home from a few days or longer, our cat is totally needy, demanding complete attention for several days. They miss us for sure.
Yes, indeed! Mine are the same! 🙂
I’m glad you had a safe and happy trip! When our human goes away it freaks us out- it takes a while to forgive her when she gets home- (tuna helps)!
Thank you for the tip! 😻😻
You’re welcome!
Welcome home. Bet the kitties were happy. Have you tried the WP advice on spam? I used to have hundreds too and decided use the “black-listed words” technique. 90% of my spam had common words in the URL or message – in my case words like, camper, RV, etc which had nothing to do with my blog subjects. It worked great!
Thank you! Do you mean under Discussion Settings where you list words, under Disallowed Comment Keys? I tried that for a while but found that many genuine comments from my followers ended up in the trash. Which meant I had to look through both the Spam and Trash folders, which seemed to make more work for me. But I may have to go back to that as I’m getting so much spam now. Not sure which way is easiest to manage.
Yes, that is what I used. I only included 4 words to specifically target the scammers that were loading up my comments.
I’ll start adding back some of the key words and see how it goes! Thanks!
Wonderful trip it sounds like. Lovely cats!
Thanks so much!
Tiger and Benji look like the forgiving kind. Back when I had a cat, he always let me hear it when I was away for a day or two…”don’t you even think of leaving me alone again!”
They certainly have a way of letting you know how they feel! But yes, all is now forgiven. 🙂
Kitties look so happy and demand attention 🙂
Yes, indeed! They’re happy to have us back home. 😻😻
