The Promised Snow Has Finally Arrived

It started with a fury overnight – tiny flakes of ice blown sideways.

It’s falling still – larger and softer – more gently but determined – blanketing everything in white.

The hummingbirds waited patiently while I brought them fresh nectar; I’d forgotten to bring in the feeders last night and the contents were frozen.

I won’t forget tonight.

    • Yes, we got it and I’m happy! Still falling heavily with quite a bit of accumulation so far. I felt bad when I saw the hummingbirds this morning and the feeders frozen up! I had to quickly make up more nectar and get it out there. I’ll do better tonight. 🙂

  1. Looks cold, but I always enjoyed a good snowfall. Up in Port Townsend we generally got one a year and that was about it. My cat hated it. How do yours do?

    • It’s very cold and we’re getting LOTS of snow! I’m happy but I hope it’s gone in a few days. Tiger wants nothing to do with it. Benji investigated for a few minutes this morning and wanted back in.

  2. I’ve heard hummers will stay when there is a consistent food source, Susanne! Glad they got their meal. The snow has found its way east as I type this looking out my RV’s window. Hubby spent part of the day putting foam insulation around our trailer. It’s warmer already! We got a big week ahead, tell you all about it soon! Your cat looks very happy with that snow. I know our Brodie loves it!

    • Yes, I’m happy these Anna’s hummers visit everyday. It’s rare for the feeders to freeze here but I should have expected they would with snow in the forecast. I’m bringing them in at night, and rotating them during the day and they appreciate it! 🙂 I’m happy to hear your hubby got the insulation in for your RV. That should really keep you toasty till you’re into your new home soon! 🙂

      • We got winter all in one day. It’s in the teens and many don’t have power! I’ll be ready for spring.
