From the Roof

“Whatcha doing up there Benji?”

“Defending my territory Sue.  I can see everything great from up here.”

“I wish you wouldn’t climb on the roof Benji. It makes me nervous.”

“Why?”  he asked.  “Cats like high places. All my ancestors were climbers you know.”

“They’re wild Benji – you’re supposed to be domesticated.”

“Wrong Sue. I only pretend for your sake. Now please move along and don’t blow my cover. ”

“Okay Benji.”

  1. My friend’s cat once fell from a third floor window ledge, and ran off unscathed!
I think he will be OK, Susanne. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • They seem to be able to right themselves given enough time. The first time I saw Benji on the roof I freaked out. But after watching him get down easily a few times with no help from me I realized he knows what he’s doing. It’s not much of a jump to the deck. And short of keeping him inside there’s nothing I can do about it anyway so I might as well relax! 😉

  2. Love the photos! And it’s great to see someone who talks to her cat and gets him to talk back. My cats and I use their language when we converse and I probably have a really b-a-d accent.

    • Aw thanks so much! Benji and I communicate mostly in English! Though I can read his eyes and body language too and I assume he can read mine! 😉

  3. My first reaction was “Benji! What are you doing up on that roof??” But when you think about it, he did soar through space by himself when he went with Foster and Panda to Italy for ice cream😂😂So I’m sure he’s fine!

    • I don’t really like him up there but he seems quite comfortable in high places. And the jump down to our deck isnt that far. And yes, he traveled much higher on his journey with Panda and Foster! 😉🐱

    • I saw him get up there once, an easy leap from the front porch railing. Getting back down he goes to the back at the lowest point, an easy jump to the deck. I don’t like it but since he’s an indoor/outdoor cat, it is what it is! He’s very comfortable with heights!
