Surprised by Rainforest

This week we happened upon the Temperate Rainforest of the Carbon River Valley just inside the remote northwest corner of Mt. Rainier National Park and enjoyed a lovely walk through the woods. Who knew?

Blessed to have all this so close to home!

    • Glad you enjoyed it! We’d never seen this section of the park and didn’t know there was actual rainforest there. 🙂

  1. Beautiful! That middle picture made me think of the deep, dark forests of fairytales, where all manner of strange creatures lurk in the shadows…

    • Yes, the rainforest is a rather mysterious place… I wouldn’t want to be there alone in the dark! I’m also reminded of those words from Robert Frost’s beautiful poem, ‘ the woods are lovely, dark, and deep….”

    • Thank you! We’ve been to the rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula many times but didn’t know there was rainforest closer by on Mt Rainier. A wonderful discovery! 🙂
