A Library – and a River Runs through it

I visited the Library in Renton and this boy greeted me near the door.

As did this river – the Cedar.

Inside I made a few selections.

Then went outside to walk the trail,  capturing these shots of the Library.

Because yes indeed.  A river runs through it.

  1. What a lovely peaceful spot for a library. We have a good one in the town nearby, but it is on a busy road, and usually crowded. I could imagine spending time in this one though.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. It’s ages since I visited a library. I got out of the habit when I was too sick to go very often. Also, our local one in Somerset was so small that I generally ended up having to order the books I wanted, which became frustrating. But that one looks like a really nice place to just be…

    • The libraries here are pretty good. I usually go to one nearer to my house but this one is fun to visit just to enjoy the location and setting. 🙂

  3. What a wonderful idea, putting together two perfect treats! If I lived anywhere near, I would just camp there.

  4. I responded to that wonderful statue. We live near an outdoor park dedicated to Dr. Seuss with great statues that invite kids much as your does.

  5. I love this library! We visited some time within the last three years….and thought of you living there in Renton. Very nice pictures, too.

  6. What a beautiful place! I’ve never been there, but I’ll have to keep it in mind to visit if I find myself down in Renton.

The first thing I thought of when I saw your title and that it was related to a library was one time when I was a teenager. I came home from school one day to see a cryptic note by the phone. It said, “come wade the river is here.” I was completely perplexed. Was there a flood? My parents were wading in it? They wanted me to come wade in it with them?! So bizarre.

My dad was an avid fly fisherman and it turns out “Come Wade the River” was the title of a book about fishing and the Edmonds library had called to let him know it was now available for him. 😀

    • Thanks for your comment! That’s a great story! 🙂 Yes, it’s fun to have this library in the middle of downtown Renton over the Cedar River. If you make it to Renton, you’ll have to visit Gene Coulon Park too, since you’re a park lover. It’s a wonderful place to walk on the shores of Lake Washington.
