I don’t know what it is but lately the sunsets have seemed otherworldly and I find myself running out into the cold to capture those few minutes when gold and pink swirl against blue and gray all framed by evergreen shadows. Tonight was such a night.

Humans have always been fascinated by sunrise and sunset. One brought hope for the day, the other the fear of darkness, and the need for warmth and safety.
Since the invention of painting, and then photography, we have sought to capture those feelings on canvas, film, and now memory cards.
Your third shot sums up the departure of the sun, and the approach of night perfectly.

I have never appreciated them so much as recently (other than when on vacation ).. I love that the beauty is available on ordinary days. What a gift. 🙂
