Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
I once picked up a travel book on the Pacific Northwest and was surprised at their top 10 attractions. There was nothing listed from Washington State except the Burke Museum of Natural History in Seattle – huh? Have you ever been to Washington? So I decided to create my own list, and I admit I may be biased. (All such lists are subjective.)

Now that I put the list together, I see how hard it is to choose only 10! Vancouver, British Columbia should be on the list, but I haven’t been there in years and have no current pictures. And many other charming towns deserve a spot including Oregon’s Florence and Washington’s Bellingham, home of my alma mater. But I have chosen what I have chosen and that’s my final answer for this post, which was inspired by #Sunday Stills, 10’s

I’m in awe of your photography, Susanne! I’ve only visited a few of those places, but our state is filled with amazing spaces and places! Wonderful top 10!
Thank you so much, Terri! I am in awe of your photography!! I knew at least 5 that needed to be on the list, but many of the others were up for grabs! 🙂 Hard to choose only ten!
Thank you, Susanne! I’m glad this challenge resonated with folks. Another blogger said 2016 was trending. I had no idea, other than my 2016 pics were popping up as memories.
Perfect! The Pacific Northwest is gorgeous. I have been to all of these spots, most on the back of a motorcycle!
Wonderful! It was hard to choose only ten! 🙂
This is a GREAT list of places to enjoy in the Pacific Northwest! So much natural beauty plus fun cities and town too…a “wish list” for all!
Thanks so much, John! It was hard to whittle it down to 10! 😀
Looking forward to part 2, and 3, and…
It could happen! 😄
Having spent time in both Oregon and Washington State, and also British Columbia, I reckon your list is a pretty good reflection of the delights the region has to offer, though I’ve not been to all ten. I’d put Tofino on Vancouver Island over Victoria I think, and I’d like to find room for the North Cascades 😀
Thanks, Sarah. Being limited to 10 was a challenge so I went with some of my favorite places. The North Cascades is definitely worthy of inclusion. I’ve never been to Tofino but feel good about having Victoria on the list. I’ve been going there my whole life; we took the Queen Margurite ship from Seattle back in the day, for a taste of Old England! 🙂 Since you have the real England, I can see why it wouldn’t be as impressive to you. 😉 🙂
Although I have never been to any of those places, I am voting for your own top ten, Susanne. I have enjoyed coming along on your travels over the years, and always loved your photos.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks so much, Pete. I think it’s as good a list as can be found in other guidebooks, though limiting to 10 was a challenge!
Great set of photos. It’s hard to pick ten isn’t it. So many beautiful and interesting places in your part of the world.
Thanks, Graham. It is indeed hard to be limited to 10, especially when constrained by my pictures! But I think this list represents the Northwest at least as well as some of the other travel books I’ve looked at.
Love your choices, Susanne! And your photographs are absolutely stunning.
Thanks so much, Peg! 🙂
All your photographs are beautiful. I especially like the one with the Oregon coast and the birds in flight.
Thank you so much!
