Fall Color at Stevens Pass and Tumwater Canyon

Earlier this week we took a little road trip to Wenatchee to celebrate our 39th Anniversary. Yes, it’s been a wonderful THIRTY-NINE YEARS, a funny number that begs to usher in FORTY!

We went via Highway 2 to see some of the best fall color in Washington State and were welcomed by Bigfoot,

before heading up Stevens Pass where the mountains were already dusted with snow.

We climbed to over 4,000 ft. before dropping to the other side

to follow the Wenatchee River where bright colors saturated Tumwater Canyon.

We were greeted with sunshine and enjoyed our few days away in Wenatchee and surrounds. I may have more on that later.

We’re already looking forward to the big 40 next year which we’ll hopefully celebrate farther afield in some exotic land. But this worked great for 39. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks John! These are some of the best fall colors in Washington and I always enjoy crossing the Pass to see them! πŸ™‚

  1. Happy Anneversary! You have some very beautiful country up there! ❀️

  2. Almost your ‘Ruby’ anniversary, and celebrated with wonderful photos, Susanne.
You had me counting my anniversaries.
    First marriage. 8
    Second marriage 8
    Current marriage 12 (so far)
    I have only managed 28! πŸ™‚
Well done to you both. I hope you enjoy many more.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • Thanks so much, Pete. πŸ™‚ Looks like you’re on a roll! Twelve and counting, you just might make it to 39. Honestly, I didn’t know the 40th was Ruby. I’ll have to share that information with my other half over the next year and perhaps I’ll get one! πŸ™‚

  3. Happy anniversary! You chose a beautiful part of your state to celebrate your marriage. We’ve traveled some of those same roads, but never in autumn. Must put it on our list!

  4. What a gorgeous area, and Happy Anniversary to you and your husband, Susanne! We had hoped to drive that direction but we got busy and now the weather may be a deterrent! Looks like a lot of fun and yay for Bigfoot!

    • Hi Terri! thanks so much! It made a nice little getaway and fortunately the pass wasn’t snowed in yet. It will be waiting for you to enjoy next year! 😊

  5. Great photos Susanne. I’m glad you had a good time for your 39th. I always liked that drive, often done on the way to Winthrop for cross-country skiing. Not as much color then, mostly black and white, lots of white!

  6. Love Wenatchee – thanks for the virtual “visit.” Many years ago my (late) husband and I owned a radio station there. I think our former station manager is the owner now. Wenatchee, Cashmere, and environs of both including Leavenworth is still a beautiful place with beautiful people and fall is the best time of the year to visit.
