Benji and the Chair
I have a special chair in my office. I’ve had it many years and I’m starting to feel the springs in the seat. Many cats have made their mark on it including the current feline residents. All have loved it but none as much as Benji. He has used it more effectively than all the others. The chair is worn and it’s time to replace it. I don’t know how to break the news to him.
Perhaps there’s room for two chairs in my office. We’ll see how it goes.

Keep it – even if you have to build a summer house to keep it in! Ideally, put it somewhere he likes to be and then teach him that it’s his. If he sits/scratches on any other chair, put him back on that one. He’ll soon learn…

Aww! He loves his chair. I was thinking that maybe if he still has his old chair he won’t think to scratch on the new one🤔 I love when cats sleep on their backs all stretched out like that!
And to think all this time I thought it was my chair! 😉 I may have to keep it, but if it’s not in my office I don’t know if he would use it as much, and I’m not sure if I have room for two. I like to think he’s enjoying my company too! 🙂 I will have to figure it out. 😉 Training him not to scratch on a new one will be challenging too, though we don’t let him scratch other furniture. He’s smart so will learn!
I’m sure he will learn. Maybe he only scratches it because he always has, so he thinks it’s “his”. If he doesn’t get in the habit of scratching the new one it will be fine 🐱🐼

True! I’m pretty sure he thinks the chair is his and he lets me use it occasionally! 🙂
That chair has an ideal weave for scratching. Be sure to replace it with his needs before yours.🤣😂🤣
