Just Another Walk in the Park – at Philip Arnold

Bob and I have taken to walking at a small local park near our home in Renton.

It always was a pleasant place for a picnic, but a few years ago they upgraded the park and added a paved walking path that winds around through giant Maple trees.

It’s only a quarter mile loop, so you can walk as many times for as many miles, or fraction of miles that you want which suits us just fine.

There’s a playground, shelters, baseball diamond and tennis courts, too, so all ages love this park.

One section of the path is lined with Rhododendrons which are now blooming bouquets of flowers.

There are other plants including this Scotch broom, which I found quite beautiful.

Scotch broom is easy to grow (some might say invasive) and everywhere, often alongside highways, so I’ve not paid much attention to it. But it’s golden color certainly brightens up any landscape. And a bit of research taught me it also has many medicinal uses.

Sharing with #The Flower Hour.

    • Thanks, Graham. I’ve been happy with the parks in Renton. They’ve upgraded many of them to have a walking path and we’ve taken advantage of them. πŸ™‚
