Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
The grandest of canyons is of course, beautiful during the day,

where you’ll enjoy walks along the rim,

and have many photo opportunities for yourself,

and the wildlife below.

But the real magic occurs at sunrise and sunset when the canyon walls turn various shades of purple,

and the sky does too.

So my advice to you if you plan to go: stay overnight if you can, to see the best the Grand Canyon has to offer.

Wow, wonderful colors of the Grand Canyon! The desert has amazing skies during cooler temps. At least judging by your purple jacket keeping you warm, Susanne! I’ve only seen the GC in snowy winter.
Thanks, Terri. You’re right, this was in November, which was perfect, as the weather was still beautiful, and crowds were fewer, making obtaining lodging much easier! I’d been to the Grand Canyon before, but only for a day. I highly recommend spending the night, if possible, to enjoy sunrise and sunset!
I will take your advice! I also want to visit the north rim, maybe in September!
September is my favorite month to travel! I’ve only been to the South Rim, but maybe someday I’ll make it to the north, too!
Very beautiful photos!! ❤️
Thanks so much, John!
Amazing photos.
Thank you. 🙂
You are a much better photographer than I. Your photos have depth and come much closer to showing the grandeur of the canyon~~~ I love these!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! 😻
Stunning. It looks like in the fantasy land, but it’s real. I love the sunset there too so much. Amazing adventure, Sussanne
Thank you so much! It’s an amazing place!
Truly, Susanne
Gorgeous photos and views. Only got there once but it was well worth it.
Thanks, Graham. I’d been to th GC before, but it was mainly a driveby. It was spectacular on this trip at sunrise and sunset.

It must be an unbelievable sight. Fabulous photos xx
Yes, especially at sunrise and sunset! thank you 😊
Amazing, Defo on my bucket list of places to visit.
It’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you can be there for sunrise and sunset.
The Grand Canyon is stunning in any light but your sunrise and sunset photos are particularly wonderful! We stayed on the North Rim and I agree, it’s far better if you stay overnight 🙂
Thanks, Sarah. I was happy to spend a couple of nights there so we could see the canyon at sunrise and sunset. We haven’t made it to the north rim, but maybe someday!
That’s a wonder of the world I always regret never getting to see. You showcase it beautifully, Susanne.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete. 😊 I was happy we spent a couple of nights there so we could see the canyon at different times of day. Much better than just driving by.
Beautiful!!
Thank you!
I didn’t know people were allowed to stay the night there.
Yes, there are many lodges and camping too inside the national park.
Absolutely gorgeous. This is on my list of places to visit.
Definitely worth a visit! Stay overnight if you can, to catch sunrise and sunset. 🌌
