Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
Welcome to the Skagit Valley, where in the winter you may see more bald eagles than you’ve ever seen before. Like we did, last year.

And when the birds move on, you’ll still have this in the spring – Daffodils in March.

Tulips in April.

Worth a visit don’t you think? An hour or so north of Seattle.

I love the Skagit Valley! Fabulous photographs.
Thanks so much! I hope to make it up there again this spring!
WOW! Your photos are amazing.
Thanks so much! I was thrilled to see all the eagles, and the flowers are terrific in the spring!
Terrific photos! I love nature and wildlife and you are so lucky to live so close to both!
Thanks, John. The Skagit Valley is awesome!
Beautiful photos! There are some immature birds too! ā¤ļø
Yes, bald eagles of all different ages!
Lovely birds! ā¤ļøšŗšø
Ooh, those spring bulbs are spectacular!
They are indeed wonderful! Thank you!
Oh my gosh…eagles, daffies and tulips in one place? Wonderful photos, Susanne!
Thanks so much, Terri! It’s a wonderful place to visit!
Lovely! I saw an adult Bald Eagle flying over the downtown! It was wonderful! I’d never seen one so far south in our county and then the next day they reported thousands of sand hill cranes in the south of the county… I’m wondering if there is something going on us humans can’t figure out???
I see bald eagles pretty often here and it’s always special! I don’t know about your area, but the Skagit is on the Pacific Flyway so thousands of birds overwinter here including bald eagles, snow geese and tundra swans!
I’ve never seen so many eagles in one place! Are they there for a fish run? Love the tulips too. Such a colorful time of year there.
I’d never seen that many either. They come to feed on the salmon in the Skagit River. I’d been up to see them on the river before but saw many more in the valley.
The salmon, of course. Perhaps, after they were full, they were just getting together to catch up!
Right? A place to hang out and pick up a few rodents for dinner!
Magnificent birds, and associated with the USA too. Lovely photos, Susanne.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks so much, Pete. š
A bird bonanza indeed and definitely worth a visit, although somehow we managed to miss it (I think just because there were too many options to fit into the time we had available). That first bald eagle shot is a real stunner šÆ
Can’t fit it all in. It makes a great stop on the way to La Conner or Bellingham, or to the North Cascades. And I was thrilled to get the closeup of the bald eagle in the tree! Thank you. š
I had the joy of seeing three eagles fly over as I sat in my car. The Connecticut River abounds with them, much to my delight.
It’s always a delight to see them!
