Sixth Anniversary! My First Blog Post from Tiger’s Corner

I can’t believe it’s been six years since I published my first post on this blog with just a few cat stories in mind. I remember thinking immediately thereafter, “oh no! now what?”

Honestly, I still wonder.

But just when I think the well has run dry something calls me – the kitties – the birds – the beauty of the Northwest – and a post emerges, and that has happened more than a thousand times.

It started with this one from Tiger on April 22, 2016.

“This is the first installment of our new blog and I appreciate Sue for letting me have the first few words.  As you can tell by my picture, I am a handsome fellow.

That’s why she picked me out of the lineup at the cat jail.  Okay, so it really wasn’t a jail.  They called it a cat hotel – without check out privileges I guess you could say.  Either way, it was my green eyes that saved me and my brother Shadow from spending the rest of our lives there.  Only I wasn’t Tiger then, I was Miracle. And Shadow was Brother Love, I kid you not.

Bob and Sue were so kind to rescue us from our sheltered life and let us live with them in a nice big house, surrounded by luscious trees and thick forest with lots of little critters (who don’t stand a chance, by the way.)

I will let her tell you about all the other wonderful things outside our home like the little framed plots containing lavender and rosemary and strawberries and roses and clematis and vegetables

and oh! the list goes on and on and it is her job to tell you.

As for me, this was only to be an introduction and I have said enough and am tired and ready for one of my many afternoon naps. Talk later.”

  1. Your home is beautiful as are your cats! Congratulations on your sixth anniversary! ❀️

  2. Happy Anniversary to you! August 4th of this year will be my Blogoversary – 16 years… albeit not all of them on WordPress.

  3. How to fill a blog is a constant concern. I started mine in 2009, worried I couldn’t build an audience on occasional posts, yet unable to imagine what to write about next.

I guarantee, when I got my first cats, daily posts became much easier, and they built into a blog that takes in people from every continent except Antarctica!

It amazes me still that my current kitty boy, Andy, is a minor international cat celebrity! He and his late brother, Dougy have/had individual fans who are/were upset if I don’t/didn’t feature one or the other often enough. It’s much easier with one, but I post old photos of Dougy sometimes for his fans.

After all that blather, may I wish you congratulations on Year Six of your blog! It takes a lot of effort sometimes to create something new and interesting for our readers, yet you do!

    • Thanks so much for your comment! You’ve been at it a long time! I’m happy your cats kept you going!

I started out with Tiger telling his tales, then Benji came along and livened things up even more! They’re still the center and easiest stories for me to tell, but I’ve added in more of my travels and photography along the way. I’m learning to let it flow, whatever I have, and try not to make it a job. It’s supposed to be fun! 😊

  4. Congratulations on your sixth anniversary! And what a sweet first post from Tiger that was πŸ™‚ He’s a handsome boy with those beautiful eyes!

  5. Yay!πŸ˜€ I’m glad you and Bob rescued Tiger and Shadow from the β€œcat jail”! I agree that those green eyes did the trick!

  6. I rarely have a post mapped out ahead of time, it’s usually spur-of-the-moment. I started blogging after I retired so it would give me something to do. Turned out I didn’t need to β€œfind” things to do, but I enjoy it so I continue.
I enjoy your posts very much so I’m glad you’ve stuck with it!

    • Thanks so much! 😊 Some posts come easy for me but other’s are like pulling teeth! Then I take it more slowly, drop, and return to it later.
