Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
I first discovered the Gingko Biloba tree a few years ago when I was walking on the Cedar River Trail. Since then I try to visit each fall to catch it in its golden finest.
Today was the day! ๐

Wow! How nice of the other trees to go with green or red so that the gingko stands out! Fabulous!
Thank you!..Yes, Whoever designed that knew what they were doing!
Itโs absolutely amazing ๐
Thanks so much! One of my favorites! ๐
Wow, how glorious!
Yes, glorious! One of my favorite fall trees!
I can see why!
Such a beautiful rich color!
Isn’t it wonderful? Thanks John!
That tree is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you! I love it! ๐
Wow! I never knew they were such beautiful trees!
When they’re dressed in gold they’re amazing!
Beautiful! I do think the Ginkgo has the prettiest fall leaves, but oh, the fruit that falls from the female tree is nasty!
Interesting. I’ve never seen any fruit as I just admire their golden leaves in the fall.
Only the female plants have fruit, itโs like a berry and very stinky!!
Beautiful photos. That tree is famous for its leaves being used as vitamin/dietary supplements. I know many users over here. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/ginkgo-biloba-benefits
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks for the info Pete! I thought I’d heard of gingko in another context but didn’t know the particulars! Nice to know it’s not only beautiful but healthful too! ๐
I LOVE the ginkgo trees and the amazing leaf festival they put on every fall! There is a whole grove of them on the Sacramento State campus, where I purposely walked in November on the way to teach class to see the gold carpet, and the cool geometric landscaping the gardeners did. The whole grove in between the two buildings turned everything golden! You captured its beauty perfectly, Susanne!
Thanks so much Terri! I fell in love with the gingko tree when I first saw it ablaze in gold on the Cedar River Trail. I’m not sure why we don’t have more of them in Western Washington but the ones I find do stand out! An entire grove would be wonderful to see! ๐
Such beautiful photos!
Thank you so much! ๐
Lovely. I would love one here. Thanks for the actual name. I think I have mistakenly called it Ginko Balboa for years! LOL
Even when writing this post I typed ‘balboa’ then changed it after looking it up! ๐
LOL
Wow, stunning colors!
Thank you! It was beautiful, indeed!
