Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
First of all I’m disappointed – I didn’t get to see last night’s lunar eclipse. Not for lack of trying. I did get up a few times looking for the moon but couldn’t quite locate it among the clouds. Oh well.
To make up for it I went outside tonight to see if I might catch the hummingbirds feeding. I hid in the garden shed nearby and waited. Not long enough apparently for as soon as I went back into the house they appeared. (The little fellows were obviously watching me.)
So I did my best to shoot from a distance and managed to get a few decent shots of the Anna’s Hummingbirds. You can click on the pictures in the gallery to enlarge them.

While I still had my camera in hand, I watched a wren go in and out of two different birdhouses. Keeping his options open I guess.

And that will do for the birds.

I am glad you got a few photos of the Hummingbirds. I also could not see the Lunar Eclipse due to clouds. 🌸📷
Thanks! I’ll keep looking for the moon and try to catch the next event!
Always a delight to see ‘your’ hummingbirds, Susanne. We have had too much low cloud to see any Moon activity. It is still raining today!
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks Pete. 😊 Yesterday was our best day. Lots of rain here today too!
What pretty birds 🙂 No lunar eclipse here but if there had been I wouldn’t have seen it through the clouds! Still, sunnier and warmer today, which is something …
I got to see the last lunar eclipse we had. It was earlier and easier to see during the winter. Hopefully I’ll catch the next one! Today we have gray skies and rain. Glad you have some sunshine where you are. 🙂 🙂
I spoke too soon …!
Ahh sorry about that! Our weather is getting stormier by the hour!
Well, I didn’t even know about the eclipse until I got up yesterday morning and by then it was all over. Loved your hummingbird pictures, and I still haven’t seen anymore here yet, but I put out fresh food yesterday. Ever hopeful! Those two wrens are adorable!!
Thanks so much. 🙂 I knew about it, but also knew it required getting up in the wee hours of the morning… Thought if I woke up I’d take a look, but no luck. Try again next time! I was happy to get pictures of the hummingbirds but they didn’t show up till I left my hiding place! Smart little birds! 🙂 I liked seeing the wrens too, and was surprised the same one went into two different houses!
About an hour after I made that comment, a hummer came to my feeder! No picture, though, I wasn’t prepared.
That’s great! They come and go so fast it’s challenging to get a picture!
It must be mating season, because my Hummingbirds have been plentiful and playful as well! All day long 3-4 hover over the feeder, dance and chase each other…and drink me out of house and home!
So fun to watch them! It sounds like yours are putting on quite a show!
They are VERY active right now…love them!
I finally put my feeders back up. I saw a hummingbird sitting on one of them yesterday, and it seemed to be mostly brown, not a lot of colors. I wondered if it was a baby because it seemed extra small. 🤔
I’m glad you got a visitor. 😊 I only get Anna’s Hummingbirds, haven’t had any brown ones before.
