These are a Few of My Favorite Vacation Spots

I love to travel. Anywhere. Everywhere. And as the world is (finally) opening up again our travel planning has begun. So for this week’s Sunday Stills photo challenge, I thought I’d share some of my favorite vacation spots, starting closest to home.

Olympic National Park

I love all the national parks but Olympic National Park is one of my favorites. Fortunately we can be there in less than four hours and enjoy all of this – and do so every year.

Canadian Rockies

For the perfect road trip from Seattle there’s nothing like heading north to the Canadian Rockies to visit the best of Canada’s National Parks – Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff. I can’t believe it’s been almost five years since our last trip. Clearly it’s time to go again – hopefully when the border reopens.

Hawaii

Finally, I can’t think of a better vacation spot than Hawaii. Four major islands to choose from and direct flights from Seattle. One whiff of the fragrant, warm breezes and I’m immediately on island time.

Maybe we can squeeze in a trip to Hawaii this year too. One can dream, can’t they 🙂

  1. Lovely photos. I recognize some of those places! I hope you’re able to get out and about to them again this year.

    • I bet you do. 😊 Thanks so much! I’m confident about Olympic National Park and hopeful for the other two!

  2. The vaccinated are free to roam. Hawaii YES, but Canada may not want us yet!

  3. Wonderful travel galleries! I recognised some of the spots in the Olympic NP from our visit a few years ago – I’m sure I have a photo of that very same Lake Crescent chair 😆 Let’s hope all of us get to visit our favourite spots soon and/or discover some new ones!

    • Thanks so much for your comment! 🙂 Isn’t Lake Crescent wonderful?? Yes indeed, I’m hoping for safe travels this year to some of my old favorites, but hopefully to new places too! 🙂

      • Yes, we loved it there although we only stayed the one night. I was up early taking photos and that chair was perfect for foreground interest 🙂

  4. Wonderful galleries, Susanne, and other than Hawaii, Olympic NP, and Canada are close! I read your comment that you expect Canada to be open by September? I suppose I can wait as I have enough to explore in our collective backyards! My husband has traveled far more extensively than I, so I have some catching up to do!

    • Thanks so much Terri! All these wonderful places are very accessible to us! I’m hoping the border with Canada will be open by September.. they keep pushing the date out but with continued vaccinations there I think it’s possible. If so, we’ll head north!

  5. Sorry I am late. It was lovely to see the photos again, and I am still jealous of Hawaii! 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • Hi Pete! You are never late! There’s no way I could omit Hawaii from a list of favorite vacation spots; I’m lucky to live a relatively short flight away. Glad you enjoyed the pictures. 🙂 Hope you get some sunshine where you are soon!

  6. Oh Susanne, you make me want to go somewhere!! Wish we were closer to Olympic National Park, I’ve only been there once. Our favorite is Mount Rainier National Park, which is much closer to us. I need to plan a trip!

  8. Love this post and I can say I want to go to all of those places…I don’t live far from the Olympic National Park area, we just haven’t ever gone

    • Thanks so much! I hope you make it to Olympic National Park someday especially since you’re close. It’s really wonderful! 🙂

  9. Susanne, your pictures are all lovely. I appreciate that Sarah pointed out the chairs as an interest feature. I love to frame my photos, but I don’t always remember to put something in as an extra interest. My favorite interest picture was the boat. My favorite overall are the Canadian pictures, but I’d love to visit Hawaii right now.

    • Thanks so much for your comment. 😊 I love Lake Crescent and the chair in front of the lake looks so serene! I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. We are hoping the border will open soon and we might squeeze in a trip to the Canadian Rockies!

      • How lovely. I’m green with envy. The greens are so beautiful up there. 🙂
