Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
On our recent trip to Oahu I kept seeing this beautiful flower – endemic to Hawaii – and recognized as the Big Island’s official island flower.
Even the name is lovely – Ohi’a Lehua – for Cee’s Flower of the Day.

Beautiful. And you even have a bee inside 😀
Stay safe, healthy and happy 😀
Thank you! You too! 🙂
The flower is very unique and beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed it. It’s unique to Hawaii!
Something we would never see over here. Beautifully exotic. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks Pete. It’s a real beauty found only in Hawaii.
Oh wow is that a bottle brush? I didn’t know they came from Hawaii🌸🌸 or if not, it must be a near relative 🤔
I’m not familiar with a bottle brush so I don’t know if they’re related. The ohia lehua is in the myrtle family but I believe it only grows in Hawaii.
Oh ok. I looked it up and it didn’t seem like they were related. There are a lot of bottle brush trees around here, I have one, and they attract hummingbirds👍
There’s a picture of one at the end of my post “I found a tree”😋
I’ll have to check it out. 😀
Pretty!
Thank you!
