Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
It’s been a long, long journey for these sockeye salmon, but they have returned at last to their spawning grounds in the Cedar River.

Not the greatest video but stick it out to the end to see the female lay her eggs.

I love #Renton, where a river runs through it.

Thank you! I never get tired of seeing it!
Beautiful!! 🤩
One of those epic journeys! It’s like you’re watching at the finish line.
Yes, what an amazing journey! It never fails to inspire.
The amazing journey of the salmon. Thanks for taking us along to see it, Susanne.
Best wishes, Pete.
You’re welcome, Pete! I love seeing this amazing journey! It never fails to inspire me.
They’re such a vivid colour! I assume that as the female laying eggs in your video is paler than the others, that it’s the males that really glow?
Yes! During spawning, the males turn a more vivid color and develop a large hump and hook-like snout.
Amazing! Thanks for the video and photos.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
So cool!!
