Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival, Rain or Shine

We first discovered the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn, Oregon, during covid. It was our first road trip in 2021, after we’d (mostly) been released from our quarantine and social distancing. Even though we were outside, we still wore masks.

Fortunately, it was a beautiful, sunshiny day.

We made the same trip the following year but weren’t quite as lucky with the weather.

We tiptoed through the tulips with our hoods up and under umbrellas,

and stayed clear of the benches.

We plan to swing by again this year, hopefully under blue skies and sunshine.

I’ll let you know how it goes!

  1. Lovely views with the flowers and the distant mountains! Do you remember Tiny Tim who tiptoed through the tulips?

  2. What a great adventure! I love that you travel around the northwest discovering new places and returning to old favorites!

  3. Wow, your images are so sharp and clear, especially those with Mt Hood in the distance! Mine pales in comparison. It was a little hazy that day (4/10/24). What a difference the rainy day makes, but I’m sure the tulips loved the soaking. Wishing you a successful trip this year. Are the Skagit fields in bloom yet? Thanks for sharing, Susanne! 💐🌷

    • Thanks so much, Terri! That sunny day was amazing with Mt. Hood in the background. The rainy day was, well, gray and rainy, and tricky taking pictures under the umbrella! Skagit Tulip Festival is going on right now, which is amazing, and much bigger. I don’t think we’ll make it up there this year, but we do have a road trip planned soon and will stop by Wooden Shoe if the weather is decent.

      • Hi Susanne
Besides Keukenhof’s vast fields of tulips, the Netherlands have beautiful cities. It’s worth visiting them.
        Keep well

  4. Seeinng them like that is so impressive! I hope that you don’t get rain for this year’s trip.

    Best wishes, Pete.

  5. The tulips look wonderful whatever the weather but I am sure visiting, and photographing, is much pleasanter when it’s dry. Fingers crossed for sunshine on this year’s visit 🤞🏼

  6. Beautiful. We went a few years ago. I really loved it. I’d love to drive up the skagit valley one as well, but that’s quite a drive for me. I’m late getting around to the comments fro last weeks posts.
