Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
January is a dreary month if you live in the Pacific Northwest, there’s just no way around it. The days are short and gray with lots of rain, it makes me long for spring!
Fortunately, it won’t be too much longer till I can visit the wonderful fields of daffodils (March) and tulips (April) in the Skagit Valley. In the meantime, I’m looking back at previous years to share some pictures to brighten your day, and I’ve squared them for GeometricJanuary
Why not? Just look at those lines!

All these pictures were taken at my favorite farm, Roozengaarde, in Mt. Vernon, Washington, in the Skagit Valley. And I’m sharing them with Cee’s Flower of the Day.

Fabulous pictures. I took my mom to see these fields when she was still with us. I’ll never forget how delighted she was. Awesome memories.
Thank you so much! I’m glad they stirred up precious memories! 🙂
Fabulous geometry, Susanne! Lovely. ☺️❤️
Thanks so much!
You’re welcome. ☺️
Beautiful and serene as well!
Thanks, John. 😊
stunningly beautiful geometry – and Cee will love it too.
Thanks so much, Becky, and I do hope Cee enjoys it, too!
🤩
I spent part of a year working on a daffodil farm when I was 18. It was hard on my back due to all of the stooping over. Those are the kind of jobs that remind us we don’t want to be doing that for the rest of our lives.
I imagine that would be back-breaking labor! Thankfully, there are some who wish to do it, and we appreciate their labors.
WOW! Amazing.
Thank you! The Skagit Valley is marvelous!
Beautiful Susanne. The tulip fields are so colorful and amazing.
Thanks Graham. I look forward to visiting those fields every year!
Reminds me of home, Holland, Michigan. Next you will be posting pictures of blueberry bushes, then I’ll REALLY be homesick.
I’ve never been to Michigan! I’d love to see it some day! 🙂
Fantastic displays and your photos work really well as squares!
Thanks, Sarah! I needed some color to brighten up January and was happy they worked for squares. 🙂
There is something majestic about seeing so many flowers lined up like that. It really is quite wonderful.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete. They are wonderful to see!
What gorgeous photos! Seeing beautiful spring flowers is so cheering on a gloomy, wintry day (even though I like winter!).
Thank you. I love visiting the Skagit Valley. I like winter, too, but sometimes I get tired of the gray and rainy and cold. And I’m missing the snow this year! ❄️
Yes, our winters tend to be drab and nothingy rather than crisp, sparkly and frosty.
Ahhh, such happy blooms. Very beautiful. Thank you for some much-needed spring imagery.
Thank you! Those bright fields lifted my spirits, too!
