Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
For this week’s photo challenge, Sunday Stills, #White I’ll look to the pure driven snow and the snow-white clouds for inspiration.
No snow so far in Seattle this year, so I’ll use some photos from past year’s glories, accented with two of my favorite things: Benji,

and Anna’s hummingbirds.

No problem with clouds, which we have plenty of in the great Northwest, all times of year.
My first cloud photo hails from the other side of the mountains near Wenatchee, where despite the backdrop of mountains and rolling hills, the sky’s the thing.

Next up is the mountain in my backyard (figuratively speaking) where it seems Mt. Rainier is no match for the gobbler overhead.

Sometimes it’s only about the clouds, as in the next photo, which I call cloudbursts. Don’t they seem joyous?

Finally, I’ll close with a picture from high above the clouds, where thankfully, the sun is always shining.

Great photos, especially of Benji. 🙂
Benji’s always the best! 🙂 🙂
I love the pops of red against all that snow, Susanne! We’re these edited or do they look that way? I’ve NEVER seen hummingbirds in snow, amazing. Glad they have food!
Thanks so much, Terri! These were from a major snow event in Seattle a few years ago. I took the pics with my Sony RX10 and didn’t do any special editing. The red accents were real and just worked! 🤩
Lovely whites! 🙂 Especially with those red accents, and the mountain/cloud shot. Benji is very cute! 🐈⬛
Thanks so much!
Great photos. I thought the red accents were a selective color thing, but it sounds like that’s not the case. Those are lovely clouds too.
Thanks, Graham. We had a lot of snow that year, and the red pot and hummingbirds just popped against it!
We have also had no snow so far this year, but it is nice to look back on photos as memories of when we did. Ollie loved to go out in snow, me not so much.
Best wishes, Pete.
I love to get a good snow at least once a year but none so far this winter. It’s been pretty mild here, especially compared to extreme weather in the rest of the country.
Your snow photos with those small splashes of colour are lovely and I’m always happy to see Mount Rainier and remember our wonderful visit there!
Thanks so much, Sarah. We had a lot of snow that year and it stuck around for a long time, providing lots of good photo ops. And Mt. Rainier always works. 😊
🧡💙🧡
Really pretty photos. Great job capturing the hummingbird. That is not easy. 😊
Thanks so much! I’m happy that they come to the feeders every day in my yard. 🙂
Finally got my post done and now getting around to commenting. These are so pretty. I love the mountain in your backyard
Thank you so much! I’ll come take a look at yours!
