   • Thanks so much! The night before, the town was jammed, but there was no one on the beach early the next morning. It was so peaceful!

9. In the UK, we use the term ‘the seaside’ for any part of the coast, or coastal town. As in “I am going to the seaside for my holidays”. To have a place actually called ‘Seaside’ seems amusing to me. 😊

   • We might also use the term ‘seaside’ generically, but I would more likely say, going to the ocean or down the coast. According to Wikipedia, “Seaside is a city in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The name Seaside is derived from Seaside House, a historic summer resort built in the 1870s by railroad magnate Ben Holladay.” It’s a quintessential beach town.
