Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
Blue sky, fall color.

Olympic Mountains dusted with snow.

Floating.

Mt. Rainier looming.

Ghostly.

Turtles basking.

Gulls resting.

American Coots swimming.

Cormorants sunning.

Who could ask for anything more?
For (almost) #Wordless Wednesday.

Great scenery and wildlife, Susanne. The weather was like that here today, though it came with a bitterly cold north wind.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete. It was a perfect fall day. Cold, for sure, but I was dressed for it. Almost starting to feel like winter!
Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, I’ve got a beautiful feelin’ everything’s goin’ my way!! Perfect fall day – thanks so much for sharing!
Perfect song to describe my walk yesterday! From one of my favorite musicals! Thanks for your comment. π
What a difference from the west side to the east side here in Washington, Susanne! Spectacular colors and views of Mt Rainier! The image you describe as “ghostly” is iconic! We’re “enjoying” rain and gray here today. And our color has washed away.
Amazing, isn’t it? Yesterday’s walk at Coulon was as good as it gets! Everything cooperated! π
I wish you a happy day with fall weather and beautiful views
Thank you!
Beautiful fall colors!
Thanks, John! It was a perfect day!
Beautiful!
Looks like a grand day out!
Truly! It was perfect!
A beautiful day for a walk! I love the mountain views in particular π And I never realised American coots were different from ours!
Thanks, Sarah! I loved seeing the Olympics dusted with snow and Mt. Rainier on the same walk! Are they called American coots in England or just coots? π
Just coots and they look different – apparently ours are Eurasian coots: https://images.app.goo.gl/pm7XzNMaE8P39wcB7
Good eye! I’m surprised you noticed the difference. Eurasian coots have more white on their head.
And are completely black apart from that, whereas yours appear to be dark grey?
The ones here on Lake Washington seem to have dark gray bodies and a black head.
ππ’. Beautiful pictures, with or without the turtle !
Thank you!! π
