Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
We returned from our cruise to Alaska yesterday and when I woke this morning, I expected to look out the window and see the ocean. It will take time to realize I’m back on land.
I didn’t buy the internet package as I wanted to be away from it all. No phone calls to make, Facebook to check, or news to disturb. I hope to wean myself even more now that I’m back home. I did connect a few times while in port and that was enough. (My little spider post was scheduled before I left and made it to my blog on Saturday while we were sailing.)
I’m sorting through my photos and will have more to share in coming days of the magnificent beauty that is Alaska – it’s pure glacier waters, salmon, whales, harbor seals, eagles and more.
In the meantime, here’s a foretaste of my favorite day at sea – cruising in Endicott Arm fjord where all the colors are real – no touch up required.

Your photos are amazing. We’ve done the Alaska cruise twice and found it fascinating. I look forward to more.
Thank you so much! This was our second cruise as well, and we loved it just as much the second time! 🙂
Great photos – can’t wait to hear more about the trip!
Thanks, John! The scenery was incredible!!
I’ve never been to Alaska, so I’m soaking up your photos! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much! Stay tuned for more! 🙂
For cool 😎 the color of that water looks like Lake Louise in Baniff,BC,CA
Yes, exactly the same color scheme due to glacial silt in the water! 😊
Oh my❗️ I am a Minnesota boy living as an old man in Tennessee. When the Glacier melted {millions of yr’s ago} it formed 10,000 lakes and none of them are that color! I am sad ‘global warming’ is melting all the Glaciers 😪
I’ve never seen much of Minnesota but have heard about all the lakes. But I agree you can’t beat the color of the lakes that have glacial silt in them.
Wow, so much beauty, Susanne! I recommend not watching the news anymore. Journalism was once a respectable job…
I’m sure there are respectable journalists still out there, but I find most of the news to be disturbing regardless!
These people want the public to feel upset… There are plenty of good folks in the world today! 😊
Beautiful and just as lovely as I remember it! (I didn’t get near as good photos as yours but the memories are crisp and clear in my mind!!
Alaska is a special place and it’s hard to get pictures to do it justice, so the best ones are probably in our mind! 🙂
Welcome home Susanne! Your images are stunning. Thanks for sharing and taking us along. I can’t get over the colors! Wow. Hugs, C
Thanks so much, Cheryl! The colors wowed me too! 😊
Oh wow! The blue color of the water is amazing!
Right? I loved it! Milky green and all shades of blue. It’s the glacial silt in the water!
I was in Alaska several times for work. I loved Alaska!
I’ve only seen the Inside Passage and Southest Panhandle but I loved it. I’d love to go back for more!
Beautiful photos.
Thank you.
Beautiful
Thanks, Don.
We were on that same cruise when we traveled to Alaska before the pandemic. It was pretty spectacular watching pieces of the glacier break off right before our eyes.
This was our second cruise to Alaska, different cruise line, some different ports but same spectacular scenery!
That’s a great taster, Susanne. Happy to hear you had a marvellous trip.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks so much, Pete! It was wonderful. 😊
Wonderful seascapes – I’m excited to see more in due course!
Thanks so much, Sarah! It will be hard for me to select the best as I took hundreds! 😄
I real joy to get to go there with you since we have no plans for ourselves to go there.
It’s an easy trip for us from Seattle, much easier than flying somewhere. And it’s such a unique place, wild and beautiful. Happy to have you come along.
Yes. We cruised out of NYC to Bermuda for the same reason
That’s a trip I dream to make one day. Looking forward to see more pictures of your cruise. 😊
Thank you! It is a worthwhile trip to make!
