Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
It happens every year in the Pacific Northwest. Salmon return to the rivers and streams of their birth to spawn. Three main species of salmon return to the Cedar River in Renton: the Sockeye, Chinook and Coho. The Sockeye is the most abundant and I recently visited the Cedar to see them make their journey upstream.
The glint of the salmon in the river surrounded by autumn leaves reminded me of this week’s prompt from Travel with Intent, Golden.

So great that you can see this up close!
Yes, just ten minutes away! Salmon Festivals everywhere during the month of October. 🙂
I still remember the fishermen at Celilo Falls(before the John Day Dam) spearing them in the Columbia.
They probably ran thick in those days! Unfortunately the runs are being depleted for so many different reasons. But I’m happy for all the ones that make it back.
Me too.
I have seen documentaries about bears catching salmon in America.
The determination of those fish to return is a sight to behold. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Yes, I love the miracle of the returning salmon! Fortunately there are no bear in downtown Renton but they are not far off in the forests nearby. Thanks Pete 🙂
So pretty! And so delicious! 🐱🐼
True!! 😊
A great choice for golden – and what a great thing to see
