Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
It’s been a stormy and rainy first week of spring, but the azaleas are blooming,

attracting bumblebees

and mason bees.

The snag out front is a hit with the birds;

flickers are excavating and will likely move in soon,

juncos sing their hearts out on top.

Meanwhile in the backyard, house finches are busily courting, the handsome male in a rust-colored tuxedo.

The towhee, not quite as red, but perhaps more handsome, is also looking to attract a mate.

Just another week in the spring garden.

The azaleas are gorgeous!!
Thank you! That hardy bush is faithful to bloom early every year!
Aren’t they beautiful!
Thank you! 🙂

Thank you, Terri! The azaleas are so faithful to bloom early in the spring every year! And I love watching the birds as they woo one another!
Our phoebes came back and have already built their nest in the same spot as last year. They work fast!
So wonderful! 😍
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Mason bee before.
They’re great pollinators and very docile. We have a mason bee house, too!
Lovely close-ups, Susanne. We are still enjoying blue skies and some lovely Spring weather.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thank you, Pete. Happy to hear you’re enjoying some good spring weather!
