As Good as Spring in Seattle!

Though the calendar still says February we are finally having some lovely spring weather.

Yesterday we took advantage of the warm temperatures and headed to Lincoln Park in West Seattle, one of our favorites.

We walked through old growth forest of Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar,

these two joined together;

to the bluff overlooking Puget Sound.

We took the trail down

and were met by a troll at the bottom, thankfully a friendly one.

We walked along the beach,

enjoying the sunshine sparkling on the lazy waves rolling in.

Afterwards we went to Spud’s at Alki, an old Seattle favorite, where we enjoyed both the fish and chips AND the history of Luna Park, the Coney Island of the West from long ago. Pictures on the wall were taken by my great grandfather O.T. Frasch, just so you know.

One more stop after lunch for magnificent views of the Emerald City.

Yes, there were clouds, but the bluest skies you’ve ever seen are in Seattle, on a good day.

  1. Wow, you took so many beautiful photos, Susanne! I’ve never been to your city, it’s lovely. The very old photos are so interesting, they are a window into how people lived so many years ago. 😊❤️

  2. What a gorgeous day. I know it rains a lot on the Pacific West coast but when it is nice out, it is so nice out!! The old photos taken by your great-grandfather are so cool.

  3. Wow! It does look like spring has arrived! Here it got up to 40℉ but the temps are dropping and snow is forecast for tonight… spring is far away. the water in the video is so clear!

    • It was a beautiful day, and the water was crystal clear! I’m glad we went out yesterday as cold weather will return next week!

  4. I love these occasional ‘hint of spring’ days! Your walk looks lovely, with beautiful trees, the fun troll and the sea. And cool that you can see your great grandfather’s photos on the wallof a favourite restaurant 😀

    • Thanks Sarah. 😊 It was a perfect day to get outside and enjoy fresh air and sunshine! And the scenery, food, and history are all fantastic at Lincoln Park and nearby Alki Beach!!

    • Thanks so much, Pete. It was nice to have spring-like weather for a few days and visit one of our favorite parks with sunshine and blue skies.

  5. Thanks for the beautiful pix of my favorite places–Lincoln Park, Alki, and Spuds! I grew up 6 blocks from Lincoln Park, so it was my stomping ground. Colman Pool at the bottom of the trail down was where I spent most of my summer days as a youth, then Alki when I got to driving age. Also the fence along the bluff may have been instigated by me when I wrote to the city and told them my youngest son made a charge for the cliff and nearly went over. They wrote back that they were building a fence. However, I’d never seen it (haven’t been back since), so thank you for that! Spuds is my favorite food. And that your great-grandfather took those pix is awesome! I take my grand kids there to eat as often as I can. Now I can tell them I know who took the pix of Luna Park on the wall. Thank you!

    • Thanks so much for your comment. I grew up in West Seattle too though not as close to the park as you. The troll was across from Coleman Pool, a new installation. I was happy for the fence on the bluff, as that’s a long way down! And Spuds has the best fish and chips in Seattle, in my opinion and I’m always happy seeing the old pictures of Luna Park on the wall! 🙂
