Celebrating Pets with Tiger and Benji
For this week’s Sunday Stills Photo Challenge it seemed appropriate to share pictures of Tiger and Benji. Granted they might disagree with being labeled ‘pets,’ rightfully believing they’re members of the household.
Tiger came to us from a Cat Hotel. It’s a long story but suffice it to say his well intended previous owner dropped him off and paid the rent till she could find him a home. He was five at the time and is now a mature thirteen years of age. Stories of Tiger inspired this blog – 5 years ago this month in case you wondered – and his handsome face is still my Avatar.
Benji had a rough start too, having been dropped off at Seattle Humane with a cropped ear and a story we’ll never fully know. We brought him home when he was a kitten almost five years ago. What a joy he’s been!
It took a while for them to adjust and I waited patiently for them to become friends and brothers. Like all brothers they still have their differences but mostly are good companions.

They say that having a cat can reduce stress and cut your risk of heart attack or stroke by a third.
“What do you think Tiger?”
“Sounds about right.”
“Benji?”
“Sure Sue, whatever you say.”
“Well regardless, here’s what I think, boys.”

How cool that Tiger was the I inspiration for your blog, Susanne! I figured something like that but both are such handsome boys! They do rule the roost, I’m sure. I miss my Leon who passed in 2018. He was a sweetie. I still have a cute shot of him as my computer lock screen. They do command our hearts!
Yes they really do! I’m keeping Tiger for my Avatar even though Benji has become the star of the blog! 🙂

You have a couple of happy cats there. I hadn’t noticed before what a lovely color Tiger’s eyes are.
Yes, they are happy cats! Tiger does have beautiful green eyes, the first thing I noticed when I met him at the cat hotel. 😻
I love that they match the cover! They look adorable. We used to have two black cats but now have two white and black dogs. Can´t be without pets.

I’m glad they have become friends. It’s hard for cats sometimes! My two girls can now tolerate being in the same room, maybe nap near each other. For now, that’s as far as it goes! I have hopes for more. Someday.
They get along most of the time but Benji still hassles Tiger sometimes for no reason Still some jealousy!
Still, they are friendly sometimes, and it inspires me to think that my cats could achieve that some day.
Yes, definitely. They have come a long way and as you saw in some of the pictures, will collaborate outside and sleep together. 😺😻

Did the humane society talk to you about the clipped ear? Some of the feral cat welfare activists who do the trap/neuter/release (which also I believe includes rabies vax) have used the ear clip to designate to other humane organizations that the cat has been neutered and vacccinated. I wish the feral cat folks would also microchip so that there would be more information about these cats but that’s probably too expensive and, well, volunteers aren’t thanked enough–ever!–and are forever underfunded. I’m guessing that your beautiful boy was a part of the program and somehow found his way off the streets and to your loving home!
The story didn’t quite make sense to me. Seattle Humane does not clip ears, and they said he’d been rescued from a crazy cat lady along with 40 other cats.. he’d only been there a couple days before we got him and his ear was still ragged.. so maybe another rescue organization raided the house and neutered those that needed it before dropping them by Seattle Humane?? Not sure that was necessary… Either way, Benji’s the sweetest kitty with the most personality of any cat I ever had! 😻
Benji and Tiger are both such cuties. I love all cats, but tabbies hold a special place in my heart as my first cat was a tabby with with feet.

Aww they are so cute! Poor Benji about his ear, though. You would think they wouldn’t clip them and let them back into the “wild” anyway, until they had healed up. Maybe a mishap at the crazy cat lady’s house?🤔 But he’s as cute as ever, just the way he is. 😻
Yeah, I never quite understood what happened. And they clipped way too much of his ear I think.. But he’s so sweet and cocky too, he wears it like a badge! 😻
The picture of Tiger with the caption “sounds about right” cracked me up. What a great position he got himself into. No need to take a yoga class for Tiger!
