Benji’s New Toy

I’ve been trying to find new ways to keep Benji entertained now that he’s trapped inside by the bobcat. (Yes, the wild animal is still around and been seen on my neighbor’s’ security camera numerous times! 😦 )

I bought a few things, but they were of little interest to Benji.

And then I discovered some leftover tubing Bob had purchased to rescreen a couple of windows. I cut a few lengths of the thick rubber string and dangled it for Benji; it’s his new favorite toy.

“Please, Sue. I’m ready.”

“Okay, Benji, here we go.”

I last 5 minutes until I’m spent and walk away, off somewhere to my duties.

But when I look up, he’s followed me, at my feet, with his toy behind him.

“More, Sue.”

“Sorry, Benji, maybe later. I don’t have time right now.”

Until next time,

  1. I’m glad that Benji has a new toy! Maybe the Bobcat can be trapped by the proper authorities and relocated.

    • Yes, I’m happy Benji likes his new toy. Unfortunately, I haven’t found an agency interested in trapping a bobcat unless it’s aggressive. We’ll have to see as time goes by..

      • We only saw him physically once. I looked at the various wildlife websites (including the state of Washington) and didn’t find anything about reporting a bobcat sighting (other than for their record keeping.)

      • I see, this is a real threat, I hope people and pets will be safe. 🙏🏻❤️

  2. 🐱wow did he ever consider a weight set and a high volume diet to ‘bulk up’❓Can’t the game warden ranger do any thing ❓ I would turn into a ‘thermal nuclear human’ to protect Washe cat but he has been an indoor kitty for 18 yrs now 😉

    • Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure Benji would take him on as he’s a fighter! So for now, I’m trying to keep him happy indoors. 🙂 And no, it doesn’t appear that there’s anyone who cares about a wandering bobcat, unless we hired someone to trap it and take it somewhere. We’re not there yet.

    • Thanks, John. I was surprised to learn it’s still in the area, and that there’s really no one who seems to care. Bummer. 😦 I have to keep Benji amused inside.

  3. Amazing what cats will play with and what they won’t! I think it’s odd that nobody seems to care that there’s a bobcat wandering around the neighborhood. While Foster is an indoor cat, I wouldn’t like the idea of coming face to face with any wild animal myself, in my back yard or anywhere else! 😮

    • Benji is really enjoying this new toy! On the bobcat front, I was surprised to find you don’t have to report it, except for a kill during hunting season. Honestly, if it showed up in our yard again during the daytime, I think Bob would try to get a few shots off!

  4. You can spend a lot of money on toys, but sometimes a shoelace or an old length of ribbon is all you need. Sorry to hear that the Bobcat is still around.

    Best wishes, Pete.

    • Thanks, Pete. Benji is always happy with anything interactive, that dangles, especially if I’m on the other end, playing with him. And I was very disappointed to find out the bobcat is still here, showing up on my next-door neighbor’s security camera at night. Looks like the cats will be indoors for the foreseeable future.
