Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
It’s cold and damp in the Great Northwest and the garden is spent. Most of the leaves are on the ground, tracked into my house, and in the lawn with the mushrooms that have cropped up.

We’re expecting a cyclone bomb (make that a bomb cyclone!) – whatever that is – it should take care of the rest of the leaves. Hunker down, winter is ahead.

The last days of fall but there will always be fungi…
Yes, many varieties in my yard!
Nice pictures, Susanne.
Oh, I hope you and yours can avoid the dangers of that cyclone bomb.
Thanks, Don. They’re predicting high winds and rain, and lots of snow in the mountains. We’re waiting!
A cyclone bomb? Better get your steel helmet on.
Cyclone bomb or bomb cyclone, they’re always coming up with new ways to describe a rainy windstorm. It’s a doozy! Lots of limbs down.
I love the fungus you’ve photographed! We still have trees with green leaves. Most strange for November.
Thank you! The storm arrived with a fury and we are in the cold and dark this morning without power. Fortunately, we have a wood stove.
Winter is definitely here, luckily we kept our power while the neighbors across the street did not. I took a visit to the Middle Fork last week, you could tell fall was on its last legs by the snow on the peaks. It will be interesting today to see how many leaves are left on the trees!
We rarely lose power, but have been out for a few hours this morning already. I’d forgotten how dark and cold it can get!
I hope that the cyclone misses you. We have had snow in Beetley two days running. Very rare for November!
Best wishes, Pete.
Yikes! The storm hit furiously last night. We’ve been out of power a few hours already. I’d forgotten how dark and cold it can get! Thankful for our wood stove.
That’s why I had a wood-burner installed. I hope you get your power restored soon.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete. Apparently there are hundreds of thousands without power in the area, so it may take a while.
