Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
This afternoon I went out to survey the garden and found little to celebrate.
Except. for. this. one. little. rosebud.

With raindrops hiding in its petals.

And that was enough.

I planted the ketchup and mustard rose earlier this spring but as sometimes happens, selected the wrong location. I cut it back and moved it later in the heat of summer.
Apparently, it has forgiven me.
We shall see.

It looks happy! Grateful for a new day. π₯°π
Yes indeed!

Lovely rose, though I’m not sure ‘ketchup and mustard’ does it justice!
Rather basic name isn’t it? But at least I knew it would be red and yellow!
Lovely. I just got three new buds. Roses really don’t like hot hot weather. I love roses in October.
Thanks, Darlene. I was so happy to see this little bud opening. πΉ
That is so precious, Susanne. That one, maybe the last rose of summer, was worth all the hard work of planting it and replanting it.
I really miss my roses. Back in the day, when I could garden, I had over 100 rose bushes around the property.
Thanks so much, Don. I love roses! It must have been wonderful to be surrounded by a hundred of them! I was so happy to find this one little bud opening. πΉ
A sign that all is not lost!
Amen to that! There is still beauty everywhere.
Definitely enough, it’s beautiful!
Thank you, Sarah!
Our roses were all bare by mid-September. I have cut them back, and hoping for a revival next year. Lovely photos of the raindrops on the petals.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete. I was surprised to see this little bud yesterday, especially after I moved it to its new location during the summer. I was happy it survived the move. π
I love the name! Ketchup and Mustard is a perfect description too!
At least you’ll remember what color it’s supposed to be!
What a gorgeous colour.
Thank you.
