A Gallery of Cobalt Blue

I love cobalt blue but it’s not so easy to find!

So I went through my archives and found some in the most unusual places, starting with Texas! No, not in the bluebonnets, those lovely wildflowers that adorn Texas in the spring, but from the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas.

I found a blue lady in the lobby, on track and moving forward, so I squared her for #SquaresRenew.

I found more blue inside, in sculptures of rock and pigment,

and ‘In Search of a Mountain,” by Anish Kapoor.

In Florida, I was impressed with the beauty of Cinderella’s Castle at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, shimmering in cobalt blue.

And nothing says cobalt like a winter sunset over the water, this one closer to home, in Port Ludlow on the Olympic Peninsula.

I’ll close with another square for #SquaresRenew – ‘Off We Go into the Wild Blue Yonder!’ with the Blue Angels. They fly over Lake Washington during Seattle’s Seafair weekend every summer.

And that will do for cobalt blue!

Sharing with Sunday Stills #Cobalt Blue.

  1. these are amazing – fabulous cobalt blues and how you found a few moving forwards too

  2. What fabulous examples of cobalt blue, Susanne! the first image of the blue lady with a dragon tail(?) is very cool! As are the other art sculptures! Of course you can’t go wrong with seascapes, but my fave is your close-up of the blue angels!

    • Thanks, Terri! 😊 I admit the blue lady sculpture was rather peculiar, but I sure loved the color. And the blue angels seemed like a good way to conclude the blues!

  3. Wow, these are all amazing. I love the blue statues. They are almost startling, aren’t they? Of course the Navy planes are inspiring, and who doesn’t love a cobalt water picture? What a great post! 🙂

  4. A very varied and excellent collection of cobalt blues. I love the blue lady and Disney castle!

    • Thanks so much, Graham! I thought the blue lady was rather peculiar at the time but loved the brilliant color. And the castle at night was my favorite thing at Disneyworld.

  5. Nice selection, Susanne. I really like the sculpture of the blue lady with the reptile tail, no idea why, but it appeals to me.

    Best wishes, Pete.

  6. These are great choices. I realized I could’ve added some photos of blue man group if I could’ve found them. Though I might not have taken any photos, just remember seeing them.

    • Thanks! I had a hard time finding cobalt blue at first, but eventually I found a lot of them and had to pick and choose among my favorites!

  7. Well i was ready to post my comment this morning and my internet went down. I enjoyed your post and photos. I should have seen if I had any photos of the Blue Man Group we went and saw when we were in Vegas.
