Spring Green

Last month we had tantalizing glimpses of spring and I puttered in the yard, snipping and trimming and straightening up the garden, even planting a new rose, Ketchup and Mustard – I refuse to give up on roses.

The birds were out and about thinking it was spring too. This junco gave a wonderful performance in song to attract a mate.

Then March came in like a lion and brought our first substantial snowfall of the season.

Even though it was gone the next day, it’s been cold and rainy ever since. Spring is fickle in the Northwest.

But it won’t be long until spring green begins to flourish everywhere: a green that is young, full of energy and new life, and providing the accent to other colors to follow.

I can’t wait. 😊

#SundayStills, Green.

  1. If I could take images like yours, I would torment you with shots of my spring blossoms. My fruit trees, apple, plum, nectarine are all getting a jump on the season and the pink jasmine is intoxicating the bees.

  2. Lovely photos, Susanne! The Junco is so cute! Think spring. 😊

  3. Wonderful photos! I saw daffodils blooming in the little alcove just outside church today. It surprised me since we have snow again…

  5. Wow, so much green, it must hurt your eyes when you walk into your garden! Mostly brown around here but the birds a flocking like crazy and two different finches hopped into the bird bath filled with ice water!! I think we will all enjoy a very green spring this year in the West. Your spring is coming along despite the snow–beautiful images of the snow! Were all these taken with your Lumix?

    • Thanks so much, Terri! We do see lots of green here in the spring! Bob is already having to mow the lawn. Many of the pictures were taken with my Lumix, but some were taken with my Sony RX10, and my phone.

      • I’ve faced a number of challenges with technology this year when my desktop died. Finally got a replacement (it was still under warranty) but reconfiguring was painful, especially Lightroom and associated catalog, so I’m dropping it. Going simpler for now.

      • Simpler is better. I mostly use my lumix for zoom shots in our backyard. My samsung s23u had been a game changer. I have a Canon point and shoot and it even downloads images to my phone.

  6. Fabulous macro shots with the promise of spring! πŸ™‚ You’re a talented photographer. πŸ‘Œ

  7. No snow here, but cold and rainy I can identify with! I love all your greens, especially with the raindrops πŸ’šπŸƒ

  8. Ah, the promise of spring! Hope it’s not teasing you and it warms up soon.

    • It’s pouring rain this morning but by this weekend it’s supposed to be sunny and dry, reaching 70 degrees! I’m ready for it. 🌞
