Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
They’re out and about in my yard, the yellow Swallowtails, teasing, flitting this way and that, changing direction on a whim.
I run for the camera, hoping they stay for the moment, however fleeting.
It’s only when I take a picture that I find the pansy. Do you see it? Perhaps to blend in better with the flowers it feeds on.

These little pansies grow faithfully, rough and rugged, nearby but are probably too small for a visit.

I’m covered with butterflies in Chicago, but only virtually, at the Museum of Science and Industry.
They too were fleeting.

Your photo is beautiful, Susanne! I like the video, beautiful!
Thanks so much!
You are welcome!
Wow! I never noticed the “pansy” on a swallowtail. Neat! 🦋😊🌺
Thank you! I never noticed either till I saw the picture! 🙂
You are incredibly talented! Thank you, hugs, C
Oh my!! Quite a compliment! Thank you. 😍
Pansies are such tough flowers…and beautiful.
Truly! I planted these early in the spring and neglected them, and they are still blooming! 🙂
My wife is scared of butterflies and moths, so avoids them at all times. I see lots of butterflies when out walking with Ollie, also neon-coloured Damsel Flies and Dragonflies. They both like to fly close to the water on the riverbank.
Best wishes, Pete.
That’s interesting, Pete. I’ve never known anyone afraid of butterflies. I love them, but they don’t stay still long enough for me to get many pictures of them. Dragonflies are really different, but also fun to watch!
Great swallowtail capture Sue and yes, I see the pansy 😀
Thank you. 🙂 I’m glad you see it! 🙂
Great photo!
Thank you!
Just a few Monarch here. I love getting to see yours.
Thank you!.Swallowtails are everywhere. Would love to see a monarch.
I remember driving through Mt. Shasta area many years ago and being in the middle of millions of Monarchs.
