Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
The NW Flower & Garden Show is back this year in Seattle and it was almost like old times!
There were beautiful flower ladies to greet you –
Display gardens, plants for sale and vendors displaying their wares.
Yes, it was smaller, with everything scaled back. And crowds were fewer – a good thing – and all wore masks.
But along with the beauty and the color and the fragrance you could feel the joy in the air. With the hope that perhaps, the long, long covid winter will soon pass, and spring will come again.

Thanks so much! I was so happy to attend! It’s been a long time! š
What lovely flowers! Thank you for posting!
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! š
Absolutely beautiful flowers! Was that your picnic spread? Whoever, they did it up right!
Isn’t it wonderful? The picnic spread was part of a display. Looked good to me too! š
Gorgeous displays. I love the flower ladies.
I loved the show and the flower ladies were my favorites! š š
Wow! Stunning flower ladies! And orchids always amaze with their endless variety of color and size…
Yes I love the ‘ladies.’ And the orchids too! I wish I was more successful growing them!
Lovely to see all those colours on a dull evening, Susanne.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks, Pete! It was encouraging to be there again surrounded by all that beauty! š
Thank you so much for posting this. Before I moved to Oregon I went every year. Some friends in the University district, and others in Woodinville and Bellevue had landscape architectural firms and wholesale/display nurseries and they exhibited at the show several times. I was in total awe of the creativity and imaginative displays.I would come home to my own rather lackluster backyard with renewed determination to put to use some of the extensive notes I’d made during show visits – and some I actually did though of a more modest variety. Now that the show has revived? I’m already making plans for Seattle travel next February!
You’re welcome.š I’ve gone for many years and was so happy it was on again. The displays are somewhat beyond what mere mortals can accomplish but inspiring none the less! And just being surrounded by all that beauty with the promise of spring is worth it.
That looks like a fun thing to go to! I was wondering if the entire place smelled like flowers, then you answered my question towards the end. Then it occurred to me: did the masks make the fragrance less, or did you notice a difference?
We’ve been going to the garden show for many years and always enjoy it! š There were fewer display gardens and plant vendors this year so it may have been a little less fragrant because of that. But I don’t think it was the masks.
I love flower shows. Iām going to Connecticuts Flower Show next week!!
Wonderful! Enjoy the show! šš·ā
