Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
Yesterday we visited Tacoma and found everything blue!
Outside the Art Museum was a sculpture by Marie Watt: Blanket Stories: Transportation Object, Generous Ones, Trek;
and nearby was the Chihuly Bridge of Glass.
At Ruston Way the blue sky merged into the bay
where we saw harbor seals playing
and bald eagles overhead.
And by the end of our walk, the mountain emerged from the clouds and hovered over the city.
It was a rhapsody in blue!

Very beautiful photos, Susanne! The Chihuly glass is always beautiful, he has a wonderful display overhead at our Bellagio hotel in the main lobby. Probably elsewhere in Las Vegas too. The mountain is so impressive, it’s got to be over 12,000 feet!
Thanks so much! Chihuly is from the area so there’s a couple museums that display his works here. And Mt. Rainier is 14,411 feet high, just a bit shy of the tallest in the contiguous states (Mt Whitney in California is 14,505.)
Your welcome. The highest peak here is Mount Charelston at 11,916 feet. There is an active ski lodge up there which is really pretty but I’ve seen it only in summer. I won’t expose my mint 7 year old truck to road salt!
Really great pictures !
Thank you! It was a great day! 🙂
Beautiful photos indeed!
Thanks so much! It was a fabulous day! 🙂
Marvelous gallery! And the blue cargo ship was a nice man-made blue bonus to the theme.
Thanks so much! I loved how the cargo ship seemed to match the color theme as well! 🙂
Nice collection, Susanne. I love the last shot of Rainier. Very dramatic!
Thanks so much, Graham. It was such a lovely day!
I’ve been there. I liked your photos 😀
Thank you! Tacoma has come a long way! I’m so glad you enjoyed the pictures! ☺
Yay! I love blue!
Thank you! Me too!
Love it! Blue is my favorite color. I especially liked that first picture, so different! And of course, Mount Rainier.
Thanks so much! It certainly was a ‘blue’ day! I loved the sculpture too!
Beautiful blues! I love the seal and eagle, and it’s wonderful of course to see the mountain 🙂 Plus that sculpture looks interesting.
Thanks so much! It was a day full of surprises! 😊
Such awesome pictures! I love that bridge of glass!
Thanks so much! 😊😊
I’ve only been to Tacoma once—before moving here a few years back. i need to return. it looked interesting and in need of a proper exploration. Thanks for putting it back in mind…
Tacoma has come a long way! Ruston Way and nearby Pt. Defiance are the best places to visit! 🙂
Amazing photos! I was immediately drawn to the picture of the soaring eagle, and the last one is truly captivating!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
