Surprised by Snow

Last week spring was here – maybe even summer – with blue skies, sunshine, and temperatures reaching 60 degrees. But this morning I woke to big, beautiful, sloppy snowflakes falling – winter’s last hurrah I guess.

I love the snow, but there’s a time and a place for everything – now is not the time for snow. Daffodils are blooming in the Skagit Valley and I plan to make the trek later this week – weather permitting – just as I did in 2019. There was no trip in 2020 and you know why.

Ready for spring in the Pacific Northwest! 🙂

  1. Snow is not unknown here in March, and we have had it hanging around into April in the past. But today was 8C, and sunny. There was even some warmth in that sun.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • It’s not unheard of here in March, but most of our snow falls in February. It totally surprised me this morning after several clear and sunny days.. Fortunately, it was just a passing flurry as blue sky has already broken through.

    • Thanks Terri! The snow came and went in a hurry so I’m off to see the daffodils later this week. I hope they’re ready for me! 😊

  2. In the spring of 1969 I went home from college for Easter vacation and while it was warm in Massachusetts, it was snowing in Portland!
