The White Stuff

None currently in the Great Northwest.  No snow that is.  So for Cees’ Fun Foto Challenge I had to look elsewhere for white and found it to be in short supply.

But then I remembered the picture I took in Carmel last month of the white cabbage butterfly.

And the snowberry out front,  a native plant here in the Pacific Northwest whose little berries do indeed look like snowballs.

Still looking for white I found these trees standing out from their surroundings

and this one on my walk at Coulon Park, waving at me as if to say, ‘I’m here, include me too.’

And finally because I really do love the white stuff I’ll close with some pictures of Benji enjoying the snow earlier this year.

And that will do..

  1. No snow around here. Last time I saw snow where I live was more than thirty years ago. I love watching the cat in the snow. Looks like a wildcat in all that white.

Love these pictures. There’s nothing like nature. I’d rather live in a trailer home with beauty like this all around than in a deluxe apartment in the city.

Not that I have one. I live in an old peeling apartment in the city. No nature, no deluxe.

    • We don’t usually get much snow around here but earlier this year we had quite a bit and Benji loved playing in it! I agree there’s nothing like nature’s beauty.

  2. A good selection for the challenge, Susanne. We will both have ‘real’ white stuff soon enough, I expect. 😦
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • Thanks Pete. We’ve had a pretty nice fall here so far, sunshine and blue skies today, though very cold. I wouldn’t mind having some snow sometime soon, but after all the holiday travel is over. 🙂

  3. We have plenty of snow here for playing. Over a foot on the ground and my cats won’t take a step outside.

  4. Beautiful photos! I had never heard of snow berries before! That’s amazing to see. And of course Benji in the snow is so cute. I had to wonder what Foster would do in the snow, but here in Fresno, there’s not much chance of finding out!😋

    • Thank you! The snowberry shrub is prolific here with nice foliage and small flowers in spring and summer. The berries are actually small, and good for birds in the fall and winter.

And I was surprised at how well Benji took to the snow! But then he loves a good adventure! 😊

  5. Susanne, there is no comments box on your latest post.
I enjoyed the scenery, but you can keep the snow. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.
