Musings on cats, travel, gardens and life
The snow is beautiful but after days and days of cold and white I thought I’d go looking for Red, in this week’s photo challenge from Travel with Intent.
I found it first in a pot of flowers, that brightened up Benji in the snow.
And I remembered the popsicle that surprised me last year on the streets of Seattle
and the little tugboat that guided our ship into Victoria.
Red – it cheers doesn’t it? – and yes, it’s still snowing.

That is a cool popsicle.
Thank you! 🙂 I think so too! It was fun to stumble across it in downtown Seattle.
Very nice selection. I like all three photos. The red pops out in the snow photo, the popsicle is fun, and who doesn’t like tugboats!
Thanks so much! 🙂
A nice selection, Susanne. Did you use the ‘single colour’ function for the snow shot? I had some success with that last year, choosing yellow. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks Pete. No, I don’t know about a ‘single color’ function. I’ll have to go look that up. 🙂
It’s in the menu. It renders one chosen colour in the shot, and the rest is black and white. 🙂
Great tip! There’s still so much I don’t know about my camera! I’ll definitely try it out! 😊
Partial Colour. 🙂

Thanks Pete! I’ll take a look at the link! I already experimented with the function you mentioned and took pictures today of hummingbirds in the snow. So much more to learn but it’s all fun! 🙂
Missed this, so sorry about the later comment. 🙂
No problem! I learned a lot this morning and will continue to practice some of these great functions on the RX10! 🙂
To be honest, the menus on all three of my main cameras can be baffling at times. It is understandable, and I am convinced I have missed scores of useful functions. 🙂
I always like finding an old picture on my phone that I’d forgotten about, and finding a use for it!
Yes it’s fun to find photos that ‘fit’ nicely somewhere later. The photo challenges are great for that! thanks John! 😊
I love that tugboat photo!
Thank you! 😊
Red is a great colour isn’t it! It is a welcome sight in many situations
Yes, it really pops! Thanks! 🙂

I love how you used contrast to highlight the red.
Thanks so much! 😊
